{"id":1008,"date":"2018-12-18T22:38:59","date_gmt":"2018-12-18T22:38:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mrtn.ch\/website\/?p=1008"},"modified":"2022-11-21T20:35:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T20:35:20","slug":"sphere-sanding-machine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mrtn.ch\/website\/index.php\/2018\/12\/18\/sphere-sanding-machine\/","title":{"rendered":"Sphere sanding machine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I had a handful of custom Balancemaster balls cast at AEND using a self made ceramic mold which unfortunately broke a few times during the process. Most of the balls had severe flatspots and would be no fun at all to use with a Balancemaster. I learned about centerless grinding and started planning my own machine. My first attempt was built with three separate drills. Plugged into a powerstrip, I thought it should be straight forward to switch the drills on and off. It broke the powerstrip&#8230; and controlling the speed was rather difficult. Inspired by old industrial factories where a lot of machines were powered with belt drives, I built a better machine with a single drill and three belt drives.
