Chaput's laboratory

There's something cooking in the kitchen!
Promoting DROP and Airflow...

Marc McCrudden took me to GMR one morning to skate with the locals. He's got some sick footage of Mischo, Tim and me. Stay tuned!

We called it a day after a couple of good runs and made our way down to X-treme board shop.
Hello Chris Chaput, we need more wheels!

We spent a day out in Corona filming with the Team Green groms from Lagun Beach. It was hot and sunny and the asphalt ate both wheels and skin!
Malibu Hills

Ramón and I met up with Riley Meehan to shred some of the beautiful Malibu hills. Cali asphalt eats a lot of wheels and the new bitumen/gravel seal shreds pucks like a cheesegrater......

We had a lot of fun and as you can see here, we got caught riding the snake.

The day ended with a steep run ending directly at the totally jammed PCH... Ramón and I arrived at the Drop screening at Socal Skateshop a little bit late.

Finally we're on the way to Maryhill

The exhaust's endpiece of Chaput's bluebird nearly fell off after not even half an hour on the road. Not much later the gaspedal fell apart, kind of... Rolling down the Grapevine a car blew a tire right next to us. Boom! I'm still happy I was sitting in the follow vehicle with Brad and not in the grom bus! Oh and that stop in Hood River was so worth it. I bought a nice french baguette and selfmade granola. Hmmmmm!
Practise and timetrials

The first few days at Maryhill were really windy! My GPS showed a top speed of nearly 70km/h right before cowzers and the repeaters suddenly became challenging.

The timetrials were a bit of a random game with wind changing from slight tailwind to no wind at all and unfortunately headwind during my first run. Quite a few top riders got slow times and new names popped up in the top 10. I can be happy with my second run where I improved 3 seconds. The final standings were as follows:

1 Ramón Königshausen 3:08.983
2 James Kelly 3:09.325
3 Zen Shikaze 3:09.473
4 Joshua Torres 3:10.036
5 Martin Siegrist 3:10.748
6 Max Wippermann 3:11.111

IGSA full qualifying results

On Saturday late afternoon the top 6 qualifiers competed in a King of the Hill race. It was a fun run with completely opposite wind compared to the strong tailwind conditions we experienced in practise. I got third behind James and Zen.

important notes:

If you're starving for a good meal in Goldendale then I have a suggestion; The Glass Onion serves delicious food and SCAS 7 rated coffee.

SCAS is an independent coffee rating system created by Martin Siegrist and companions. It stands for Siegrist Coffee Authenticity Scale and goes from unacceptable 0 to really delicious 10.

Finals

It was my third year at the Maryhill Festival of Speed and once again I made it into the finals!

Unfortunately Zen chose to take a weird line for the last corner which left me very little space on his inside. I tried to avoid a crash but Zen slid, crashed and entered a protest. The IGSA decided that I caused the incident, however if Zen rode raceline instead of timetrial line all this would not have happened!

It's a fact that if you don't take the inside at any of the Maryhill corners, the guy right behind you will take it. Period!

Angies Curves and Boulder Creek

The last day of my trip I went down to San Diego to skate two gnarly spots with Aki and Pat Schep. Louis Pilloni and another SD local who's name I forgot joined for Boulder Creek later in the afternoon. It's been a while that I have gone through two sets of wheels in one day....
