Balancemaster

Balancemaster with foam grip.

The Balancemaster is an advanced balance board which is used with one or multiple balls, initially developed to complement my training as a downhill skateboard racer.

The board is made from birch plywood and high pressure laminate and produced in my own little carpentry workshop. Design, materials and manufacturing processes have been refined over the past decade. A main feature of the board is the padded bottom edge: Heavy duty 6 mm needle felt dampens noise and reduces scratches when the board is touching the ground.

The standing platform is similar to the concave of a longboard with 12° raised edges for better control. Two grip options are available: grip tape for balancing with shoes only or foam rubber for barefoot use.

The bottom side of the board is completely flat. The board moves freely in all directions. It’s possible to do spins or roll from one ball to another. The balls are made of synthetic rubber and come in one color and size only.

The Balancemaster offers a fun and challenging training. It strengthens feet, ankles, legs and core but also improves coordination and balance by stimulating your proprioceptors. In simple words, proprioceptors are the sensors linking your brain with joints, ligaments and muscles.

The chamfered edge of the Balancemaster allows a hands free use of the board.
